Tik Tok One Pan Egg Sandwich

This One Pan Cheesy Egg Toast is one of the most popular videos in Tik Tok. It is a craze at the moment and I want to give it a try. With just simple ingredients and very easy steps, this breakfast will give you a good start of the day.

This Tik Tok One Pan Egg Sandwich is actually a hybrid of sweet and savoury french toast-like sandwich that makes people crazy over the internet. I want to see what this is all about and I am going to give it a go. Basically, all you need are eggs, bread, butter and cheese. Let’s get started.

How to Make Tik Tok One Pan Egg Sandwich?

In a bowl, beat 2 eggs really well. Make sure that the egg whites are completely incorporated with the egg yolks. This will give it a good finish. Don’t forget to add in a pinch of salt. Next, heat up a pan in low-medium heat. Once heated, melt 1 tablespoon butter and swirl it around the pan, making sure that the pan is greased. Pour in the beaten eggs and let it cook for a little bit. While the eggs are cooking, spread the bread with butter, both sides. The eggs don’t have to be completely cooked, just make sure that the texture is ready to be flipped. When you’re happy with it, time to flip. Okay, 1, 2, 3! Now, place the cheese slices on top and sprinkle a little bit of sugar. Tuck in the edges of the eggs to the top of the toast, then time to flip one bread on top of the other. Cut the bread in half or eat it as is.

  • Use fresh eggs for this recipe. When beating the eggs, make sure that the egg whites are completely mixed with the egg yolks.
  • Thick white bread or brioche works really well.
  • A choice of cheese could be cheddar, Swiss or Mozarella.
  • If you don’t like it sweet, you can omit the sugar.
  • The texture of the egg should be ready to be turned over otherwise it will break apart. It doesn’t have to be completely cooked.
  • You can add ham, bacon, turkey and chicken to this recipe. Also some vegetables like tomatoes, shredded carrots, and cabbages.

Sushi Bake

Sushi Bake is basically a deconstructed sushi roll baked like a casserole. It is easy to make and a perfect potluck dish to share with family and friends.

It is technically deconstructed sushi baked in a pan like a casserole. Sushi bake is the best food to bring to parties, family gatherings and events. It is very easy and simple to make and it takes a little time to prepare. This Japanese dish is amazingly packed with the yummy goodness of sushi rice, imitation crab, mayo, cream cheese and furikake. Wrapping a spoonful of it in a store-bought seaweed is just gorgeous. You can think simple with the ingredients or go crazy and wild. I guess you can mix anything with it provided that they blend nicely together.

How to Make Sushi Bake?

To make this popular potluck dish, you need to cook sushi rice (Jasmine rice is a good substitute) as per instructions in the package. Make sure that you rinse the rice until the water is clear. Add sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, salt and sugar. I like to add salt and sugar to my sushi rice. If you don’t like it salty and sweet, you can always omit them. Mix them all up. Place the rice in a baking dish and flatten it. Sprinkle furikake on top. In a large bowl, mix imitation crab, mayo, cream cheese until well-combined. Add the mixture on top of sushi rice and flatten it. Now, it is time to squiggle sriracha and kewpie on top. Add in green onions and furikake, yes, more furikake. Furikake gives the rice a nice tasty flavour, so more of it means tastier dish.

green onions, 2 stalks

more furikake

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F or 230 degrees C.
  2. MAKE SUSHI RICE: Cook sushi rice as per package instructions. Make sure to rinse the rice well until the water is clear. Cook in a rice cooker. Add sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, salt and sugar. Place in a baking dish. Flatten the rice and sprinkle with furikake.
  3. MAKE FILLING: In a large bowl, mix imitation crab, mayo and cream cheese. Place on top of the rice. Make sure to flatten it and make it even.
  4. Squiggle sriracha and kewpie. Sprinkle with green onions and furikake.
  5. BAKE: Bake sushi in a preheated oven for 5 – 10 minutes.

  • No worries if you don’t have sushi rice at home, Jasmine rice works well too.
  • Remember to wash sushi rice until the water is clear.
  • You can mix anything you want in a sushi. This is just an idea, but of course you use salmon, tuna, chicken, and more. The idea is endless.
  • Add furikake in your sushi bake. Seriously, add more furikake. It gives the rice such a tasty flavour and you’re going to thank me later. Furikake comes in different flavours. I used rice seasoning powder (Unagi Furikake).
  • To bake or not to bake the sushi bake? It is really up to you.

Chocolate Butternut ala Dunkin’ Donuts

Chocolate Butternut or Choco Butternut is my most favourite donut in the whole wide world. Yes, it is!!! Sadly, I haven’t tasted this for so long until last year, when Dunkin’ Donut had launched Choco Butternut here in New Zealand. I was so thrilled and got a dozen. Unfortunately, for us New Zealanders, it was available for just a limited time.

So in order to satisfy my cravings for this yummy donut, I’ve come up with a recipe that I can do at home, now you can too! I’ve hacked into my childhood! Oh my Gosh! Try this recipe, and let me know what you think.

2. Lightly grease an 8-inch round baking pain with cooking oil spray or smother with butter. Dust with a little bit of flour and line with parchment paper (baking paper) set aside.

3. In a medium-sized bowl, combine all the dry ingredients; flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, instant coffee powder and cocoa powder.

4. In a separate bowl, combine the wet ingredients; eggs, vegetable oil, water white vinegar and vanilla essence.

5. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Mix them together until well combined.

6. Bake for 25 minutes in a preheated oven.

7. After 5 minutes, take it off the pan and cool the cake completely.

1. In a non-stick pan, melt the butter.

3. Pour in the flour, sugar and nutmeg.

2. Mix well; set aside.

1. Crumb the cake with your hands and then roll a ball.

Caramel Macchiato Cake – Coffee by BTS

I made Caramel Macchiato Cake for my daughter’s 15th birthday. Originally her birthday cake was supposed to be a Perfect Chocolate Cake with an edible image of Jung Kook’s abs on top. Haha! Yes, you read that right! She was so obsessed with Jung Kook’s abs in their hit song Fake Love that was released this year.

The thing is, I forgot to make an order for that edible image and so I asked her what type of cake does she like and said she likes mocha cake or coffee based cake. And so I thought, Jung Kook’s song Coffee…

To be honest, I made a huge mistake in the frosting. This cake calls for Swiss Meringue Buttercream and it’s my first time to do it. It was going well at first until the buttercream had crumbled like tofu! I was about to toss it out but then I searched the internet and thought maybe there’s a way to revive this buttercream. I followed the steps, it became smooth but it’s not the consistency I wanted so I ended up using the easy and simple buttercream that I’m used to make. That went well.

So there you have it folks… my recipe for Caramel Macchiato Cake. I hope you like it  as much as we did.

Caramel Macchiato Cake

For the Cake:

3 ½ cups all purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 cup boiling water
¼ cup espresso powder
113 grams (1cup or 2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup light brown sugar, packed
3 large eggs
½ cup milk, room temperature

For Caramel Sauce

1 cup granulated sugar
6 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into cubes
½ cup heavy cream

For Caramel Buttercream:

150g butter, softened
2 cups icing sugar
1-2 Tbsp espresso extract

1. Preheat oven to 350 F or 180C degrees. Grease and flour three 8 inch round cake pans. Line with baking paper or parchment paper.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together.

3. In a small cup, combine the boiling water and espresso. Set aside to cool.

4.  Using an electric mixer, beat butter and sugars on medium speed until light and fluffy. It will take about 3-5 minutes. Add in eggs one at a time until well combined. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.

5. Combine the espresso mixture with milk.

6. Add the flour mixture and espresso-milk mixture to the batter alternately. Starting and ending with flour mixture. Make sure to beat well every after addition.

7. Divide the batter into 3 pans. Bake cakes for 30-35 minutes or until the center springs back when touched and a toothpick comes out clean. Cool cakes for at least 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

For Caramel Sauce:

1. In a medium saucepan, melt sugar over medium-high heat. Whisk the sugar when it starts melting. Sugar will clump while whisking but just keep keep whisking until all sugar is melted. At this stage, stop whisking it and let it turn into a deep amber color. Swirl the pan to mix. Keep a good eye on the caramel, as it will get burn easily.

2. Whisk in the butter and mix until completely melted and incorporated. Remove pan from heat.

3. Gradually add in the heavy cream and whisk until smooth.

4. Transfer caramel immediately into a glass jar. Set aside and let it cool.

For Caramel Buttercream:

1. Beat the butter in a large bowl until soft. Add half of the icing sugar and beat until smooth.

2. Add the remaining icing sugar and one tablespoon of the coffee extract and beat the mixture until creamy and smooth. Beat in more milk, if necessary, to loosen the mixture.

For Toppings:

I alternately swirled some frosting on top of the cake and I put maltesers on them. I also put French macarons alternately with the swirl of frosting. I also let the caramel sauce drip on the side of the cake and made swirly bits on top to replicate Starbucks Caramel Macchiato’s design.

If you somehow replicate this Caramel Macchiato Cake recipe, please let me know if it goes well with you. I like to hear your baking stories.

Korean Coconut Fried Chicken

Have you tried Korean Coconut Fried Chicken? This is so great with simple garlic mayo, tartare sauce, Korean BBQ sauce, or spicy apricot sauce. I guess any sauce would be nice! But I definitely guaranteed, if this chicken is marinated and fried properly, this is the bomb!

My family is fond of BTS and it all started when we saw DNA, Serendipity and Mic Drop videos. My little boy would always ask me to play these songs to cast on our TV so he could dance with it. His very first favourite was Tae Hyung, and then JHope, now he’s most favorite is Suga! He would usually copy their fashion, their style and the way they perform! Suga’s rapping style is his thing now!!! He’s so cute!

You may also want to try my other Korean recipes: Japchae, Tteokbokki and Twisted Korean Doughnuts (Kkwabaegi).

Anyway, BTS had a commercial of this Korean Coconut Fried Chicken ASMR, and we can’t just watch it. Just listen to how yummy and crunchy that sounds. We would love to try it for ourselves. That’s why I came up with this recipe so that everyone outside Korea can taste what BTS had just enjoyed in this commercial.
